The Monday following Christmas, Caleb had surgery to remove his tonsils and adenoids. We had to be at the hospital at 6:15am with his surgery scheduled for 8:30am. When we got there they put us into a room where we waited until it was time to go to the holding room. Caleb wanted to bring his Webkinz toy "Pokey" with him. He had to make sure to get him in the picture too.

Caleb wanted a picture of Pokey in his cage.

They gave Caleb a Looney Toons hospital gown to put on. He did not like having to wear that gown. I think that he didn't like how it looked like a dress and the back was open. I told him not to worry about it, because he had his Buzz Light Year underwear on. Those would look cool if anyone saw them. He wasn't buying it.
We were warned that there wouldn't be a TV in the room so we gathered up all of our fun stuff to bring with us. The Nintendo DS that he got for Christmas came in handy.

We also brought our DVD player. We were in this room for 2 hours so we had plenty of time to play games and watch a movie.

In the elevator

Once we got to the holding area they gave Caleb some medicine to help him relax. It totally made him drunk feeling. It was very comical to say the least. Here he is before the medicine had really kicked in.

He would try to get up on his knees and then fall over. We had to keep our hands on him to keep him from falling out of the bed.

You can see in this next picture his happy drunk face. At one point he told me that I had 2 heads, and three eyes, and 2 hairs (talking about my pony tail) and then he tried to swipe his hand at it. It was crazy.

We managed to get some loving in before they took him back for surgery.

I thought that this was a sweet picture of the boys.

And here he is after surgery. He was so upset about the IV when he woke up after surgery. He kept saying how his hand hurt. Thankfully they put the IV in after they had him down for surgery. It would have to be weird waking up and having some foreign object in your hand. The IV was really his only complaint. He really never complained about his throat hurting. Once he fell asleep he wasn't near as worried about his hand anymore.

Once Caleb was in recovery he had to stay for 4 hours. While Caleb was sleeping Jeff and I watched one of the kids movies and played the Nintendo DS games.

Here he is up and out of bed for a minute. He was in good spirits, just ready for the IV to come out.

Today we are 3 days out from surgery and he is still doing good. They say that the 3rd, 4th and 5th days are usually the worst. He woke up this morning crying because his throat hurt so bad. Once his medicine kicked in he was all good. He had not complained much at all until today and still he really hasn't complained all that much. I am very thankful that he has been such a trooper. As a parent you hate to see your children in pain.
I'm glad that is over too!!! I hope it makes him better in everyway....tell him I saw his Buzz underwear in one of those photos!!!
